A little piece of West Coast paradise, we offer true pub warmth, fine fresh seafood and luxury stays in brand new beautifully appointed and elegantly finished rooms. Monks has been part of Ballyvaughan village life for as long as any local can remember (and that’s a good long time!) We started out as a local bar and store, serving the people of North Clare for many generations and as a point of departure for the boat over to Galway and Aran Islands. Looking out over the harbour, it’s not hard to imagine the fishing folk returning with their haulway back when. We love that the North Clare heart of our place is still loud and proud, while we’ve grown into one of the county’s favourite seafood dining experiences, complemented by truly next-level accommodation. Today we’re a place where special times are celebrated, days of adventure begin and tranquil harbourside nights make memories to last a lifetime.
